How to Motivate People (3 theories)

What motivates people to do well at work?  Praise, good working conditions, money, personal pride?  

Everyone has got their own theory.  In this tutorial we cover three theories that are commonly held to be the most important.  

  • Maslow's  Theory of Motivation and Human Needs
  • McGregor's   Factor X/Y Theory
  • Herzberg's  Two Factor Theory

Understanding these theories will not necessarily make you a great motivator, but it will give you useful frameworks to consider when trying to motivate people in your organisation.
